So I've seen the Sonic Boom cartoon recently....

Remember when it looked like Sonic was getting pulled out of the mud with games like Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations? Remember when it seemed like Sonic was making the comeback all fans were dreaming off? BOY did that feel just like yesterday. It makes it more sad when Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric is being called the next Sonic 06'. But does that mean Sonic's in a complete rough state? Well....in the gaming world, kinda yeah. But he seems to be doing fine in the cartoon side of entertainment.

I've recently seen each episode of the Sonic Boom cartoon so far and......it's alright. It's not great or terrible, it's just okay. I'd say out of all the Sonic cartoons, it does capture the true heart and nature of the games pretty well, while also adding it's own tweaks to it. (Without being too ridiculous or serious) At first the character designs looked silly (Especially Knuckles) but I'll give em credit for having Sonic and Co. look more distinct from each other. And speaking of the characters....

Sonic and Tails seem to act like how they usually do in the past, Amy Rose gets perhaps her best incarnation in her entire existence, Knuckles (While I don't really support the idea of him being an idiot) does get a good laugh every once and a while, and Eggman....I'd say is the best character of the whole show, just for having the perfect balance to his personality. He's not too goofy like in AoSTH, nor is he too menacing like in SatAM. And then there's Sticks the Jungle Badger.....I don't have strong feelings towards her. I mean, she's at least a better character than Rouge, but her mere concept of a character is kinda creepy and annoying. As for Orbot and Cubot, they're basically in the similar vein of Scrat and Grounder and Decoe and Bocoe being Eggman's goofy henchman. (Or henchbots)

Plus I do give some of the episodes credit for having some creativity to them. There's literally an episode centered around a tribe that constantly guilt-trips Sonic and Tails from leaving after saving them from thieves, and it just has to be seen to believe. You have no idea how strangely invested I was with it.

So yeah, Sonic Boom is an all around serviceable cartoon. Kids will love it while fans can check it out for sheer curiosity. It's better than most cartoons airing today, but not as good as some of the top titles. Well, I guess that's ONE good thing to come out of the Sonic Boom games....
